About Us at Dunsinane's Black Garlic
We are a small family business and when we shifted from our farm 6 years ago, we looked around for something to do with our new small acreage. After looking at lots of possibilities we settled on saffron and planted our first corms in 2007. Since then we have been exporting our entire crop to Australia.
But I felt that it was unfair that Aussie was getting the best we had to offer and Kiwis were going without. Our saffron (all of New Zealand's - not just Dunsinane's) is considered some of the best in the world and here we were sending it all overseas.
Then someone told me about black garlic and I thought - here's something else I can grow. But when I Goggled it, it seemed that although there is garlic species called black garlic (Allium nigra), this is not what everyone was raving about. After lots of research and a year’s experimentation, Dunsinane's Black Garlic came into being.
Over the next few years we hope to diversify even more and bring you other divine goodies grown in New Zealand.
We are firm believers in Buying New Zealand made and where-ever possible all of the ingredients in our products are either grown in New Zealand or are manufactured here.
